The legal foundations of data protection can be found in the Bundesdatenschutzgesetz (BDSG = Federal data protection law) and the Telemediengesetz (TMG = Telemedia law).
Definitions of the used terms can be found in Art. 4 DSGVO.

This is for the safety of NATURALSCIENCE.CAREERS, in case a USER is writing unlawful content in these contributions (insults, illegal political propaganda…). In this case, NATURALSCIENCE.CAREERS can be made liable for this contribution and therefore has an interest in the identity of the USER who is the author of the contribution.

You can visit this website without giving contact details. In order to improve our offer, we save (not personalised) your access data to our website. This data encompasses e.g. the data you download or the name of your internet provider. By anonymising your data, it is impossible to draw conclusions about your person. In case your comment breaches the law, we could get prosecuted. For this reason, we have an interest in knowing the identity of the autor of the comment or article.
Integration of services and contents from third parties
It can occur that within the homepage, there will be content from third parties like videos from Youtube, maps from Google maps, RSS Feeds or graphics from other HOMEPAGEs will be included. This always presumes that the third party providers (hereafter called “THIRD PARTIES”) register the IP address of the USERS. Without the IP address of the USER, the content could not be sent to the browser of the USER. The IP address is therefore necessary for the display of the content. We strive to only use such content, whose providers use the IP address only for the delivery of the content. However, we can not influence if the THIRD PARTY uses the IP Address for e. g. statistical purposes. As far as we know about it we do inform our USERS.
Google Analytics
In order to optimise and analyse our online service, this website uses the service of “Google analytics” by Google Inc. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). Google LLC works in accordance with the European data protection law and is certified by the Privacy-Shield agreement: https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt000000001L5AAI&status=Active
NATURALSCIENCE.CAREERS uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service by Google Inc. (“GOOGLE”). Google Analytics uses so-called Cookies, that are text files, which are saved on the computers of the USERS and which make an analysis of the usage of the HOMEPAGE possible. The information gathered by the Cookie about the usage of the HOMEPAGE are generally sent to a server of Google in the USA and stored.
In case IP anonymisation is activated on this HOMEPAGE, the IP address of the USER will be shortened by Google within the European Union or in other contracting states. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transferred to the Google servers in the USA and shortened there. The IP anonymisation is activated on this HOMEPAGE. On behalf of NATURALSCIENCE.CAREERS, Google will use the information in order to evaluate the usage of the HOMEPAGE by the USER and to put together reports about HOMEPAGE activities and in order to deliver further services connected to the HOMEPAGE usage and the internet usage to NATURALSCIENCE.CAREERS.
The IP address gathered from your browser by Google Analytics is not being brought together with other data from Google. The USERS can prevent the storage of the Cookies by using specific settings in their browsers. NATURALSCIENCE.CAREERS indicates to the USERS that this can mean that not all functionalities of this HOMEPAGE are fully functional. USERS can prevent the acquisition of data by this Cookie including their IP address as well as the processing of these data by Google if they download the browser plugin in the following link:

As an alternative to the browser add-on or on browsers for mobile devices, use this link to prevent the acquisition of data by Google within the NATURALSCIENCE.CAREERS HOMEPAGE. This stores an opt-out Cookie on your device. In case you delete your Cookies, you will have to click on this link again.
Furthermore, you can prevent the collection of data (including your IP address) and its forwarding to Google Inc. via cookies with a browser plugin. This link leads you to the plugin:

Usage of Social Plugins from Facebook
The HOMEPAGE uses Social Plugins (hereafter called “PLUGINS”) of the social network facebook.com, which is run by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (hereafter called “FACEBOOK”). The PLUGINS can be recognised by the FACEBOOK logo (white “f” on a blue tile or a thumbs-up sign). The list and the looks of the FACEBOOK Social Plugins can be viewed here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/.
If a USER is visiting a HOMEPAGE of the HOMEPAGE which is containing such a Plugin, his browser will build up a direct connection with the servers of FACEBOOK. The content of the Plugin will be directly transmitted to your browser by FACEBOOK and be integrated into the HOMEPAGE by the browser. NATURALSCIENCE.CAREERS therefore has no influence on the amount of data which FACEBOOK is retrieving with the help of this Plugin and informs the USER according to its state of knowledge.
By integrating the Plugins, FACEBOOK receives information that a USER has entered their HOMEPAGE. In case this USER is logged onto FACEBOOK, then FACEBOOK can assign this visit to his FACEBOOK-account. If the USER is interacting with the Plugins, as the Like-Buttons or by giving a comment, then this information will be directly forwarded by the browser to FACEBOOK and stored there. In case a USER is not a member of FACEBOOK, the chances are still given that FACEBOOK might retrieve his IP address and store it. According to FACEBOOK, in Germany the IP address is stored anonymously.
Aim and extent of the data collection and the further processing and usage of the data by FACEBOOK as well as rights and possible adjustments for the protection of the privacy of the USERS can be read in the data protection declaration of FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/.
If a USER is member of FACEBOOK and does not want FACEBOOK to collect data about him and connects it to his personal data on FACEBOOK via the HOMEPAGE, the USER has to log out of the FACEBOOK HOMEPAGE before visiting the HOMEPAGE.
It is also possible to block the FACEBOOK Social Plugins and Add-ons for your browser, e. g. by using the “Facebook Blocker“.
This HOMEPAGE uses the push-button of the service “Twitter”. These push-buttons are being offered by Twitter Inc., 795 Folsom St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. They are linked by terms like “Twitter” of “Follow” and can be recognised by a stylised blue bird. With the help of these push-buttons, it is possible to share a page or article of this HOMEPAGE at Twitter or to follow NATURALSCIENCE.CAREERS at Twitter.
If the USER is opening a HOMEPAGE of this HOMEPAGE, which contains such a push-button, his browser will make a direct connection with the servers of Twitter. The content of the Twitter push-buttons will be transferred directly from Twitter to the browser of the USER. NATURALSCIENCE.CAREERS therefore has no influence on the amount of data, which Twitter is retrieving with the help of this Plugin and informs the USERS according to its state of knowledge. According to this, only the IP address of the USER and the URL of the respective HOMEPAGE, from which the button was used, are being transferred, but is not being used for other purposes than displaying the button. Further information to this can be found in the data protection declaration of twitter: http://twitter.com/privacy.

The USERS can prevent the storage of the Cookies by using specific settings in their browsers. NATURALSCIENCE.CAREERS indicates to the USERS that this can mean that not all functionalities of this HOMEPAGE can be fully used. USERS can object to the acquisition of data by Quantcast with effect for the future by clicking on the link “Click here to opt-out” when setting up an opt-out Cookie: http://www.quantcast.com/opt-out.
